Province House National Historic Site & Provincial Legislative Building The Charlottetown Conference on confederation was held here in 1864, leading to Charlottetown being known as the "Birthplace of Confederation". Home to the P.E.I. Provincial Legislature since its building. Restored to its 19th century glory, Province House sees conference reinactments during the summers. Hughes Drug Store/Apothecaries Hall Historic Monument In December 1810, one of Charlottetown's first apothecaries was opened in this spot. Renamed Apothecaries Hall in 1874, the original building was replaced in 1900. St. Mary's Catholic Church Prince Edward Island's largest wood church, St. Mary's is an excellent example of the French Gothic Style, complete with rounded steeple towers.
