Welcome to Cardigan!
The vibrant Prince Edward Island village of Cardigan is located on the head of the Cardigan River. The community with its picturesque water views is only 54 km (34 mi) northeast of the province's capital city, Charlottetown. The Cardigan area was first settled by Acadians then by Scottish and Irish immigrants. Presently Cardigan is a fishing and farming community, but back in the 19th century it was a bustling ship building site. Attractions in Cardigan include Canada's Smallest Library, which has a capacity for 2,000 books. Visitors can take out a book from this library's small but diverse collection and spend time relaxing by the river reading. Golfers will appreciate the area's green courses, such as the PEI Brudenell River Golf Course, Dundarave Golf Course and Beaver Valley Golf Club. While in Prince Edward Island, visitors should try one of the province's famous meals, a mouth-watering lobster supper. At Cardigan Lobster Suppers, patrons can feast away on a fresh market lobster served with a five course meal.Tour Operators
